Ravindra Jadeja's career started in 2000 when he played for Baroda Under-19s. In 2001, he was selected to play for India A side. In 2002, he was selected to represent India at the ICC Under-19 Cricket World Cup. In 2003, he was selected to join the Indian squad for the tour of South Africa. In 2004, he was named in the Indian squad for the home series against Australia. In 2005, he was selected to make his Test debut against Pakistan. In 2006, he was selected to captain India A side in the first ever One Day International tri-series between India A, Sri Lanka A, and Bangladesh A. In 2007, he was selected to lead the Indian team in the three-match ODI series against New Zealand. In 2008, he was selected to be a member of the Indian squad for the inaugural edition of the Champions Trophy. In 2009, he was selected to participate in the Asia Cup held in Bangladesh.
